Deja VU!

Kiddo had some friends over for an “academic sleepover” and I met parents of one of the girls that I had not met before. Guess what? Dad’s an orthopedist! Guess what else? He looks REMARKABLY similar to OUR OS!

Not just similarities in eyes and other facial lines, but also in his demeanor…strange but true.

I’d venture to guess he’s right around that same age frame, too, about to retire from the military and he entertained speaking with me (along with his wife) for an hour this morning about the academic giftedness of my children and their potential future academic track…maybe leading to their now intended professions of orthopedist, physicist, bioengineer, or vetinarian.

Anywhoo, it was strange but refreshing to be speaking with a seasoned orthopedist for reasons BEYOND those of our family’s orthopedic issues…but it was peculiar to be doing so with someone who had so many characterstics similar  to our OS who we will be seeing again in about a month…maybe I need to ask him if he has a long-lost brother or something!

Odd as all that is, as small a world as it is in which we live I am pretty certain they would know and be familiar with one another since there was another orthopedist in the clinic here that was headed up to our OS’ facility for a fellowship…even told me to say “hi” to him next time I spoke with him. He’s supposed to have started his fellowship in August, so maybe I’ll run into yet another familiar face in this small, small, very small world of all things hip and orthopedic related.

Who’d have known that we could potentially speak with doctors OUTSIDE of medical appointments?! lol

Maybe I’ll have another means of ”insider help” the next time I get the run around at our local clinic!
